Physics & Astronomy, UGA We are currently seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) based biosensor for virus detection. This interdisciplinary project is in collaboration with Infectious Diseases, Statistics, and Veterinary Diagnostics Labs, and will require a diverse range of skills and knowledge in optical techniques, substrate fabrication and modifications, virology, machine learning, as well as conventional biological techniques. We are seeking individuals with scientific curiosity, sincerity, and motivation. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently and with integrity, meticulously documenting research data, and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary research team members. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide guidance to graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory and contribute to the publication of research findings in reputable journals. Qualifications: Recent PhD degree in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, bio-engineering, or related fields Prior experience in SERS Proven track record in research with good communication skills, including first-author publications in esteemed journals Familiarity with surface modification techniques, biochemistry, and chemometric analysis or machine learning preferred The University of Georgia is renowned for its excellence as a public university, offering an exceptional research environment and excellent training opportunities.
