Associate Research Scientist

Research Area(s):

Experimental Condensed Matter Materials Physics & Biophysics

Research Interests:

Gupta’s research interests are wide and classified as condensed matter materials physics and biophysics including investigations of nanoscale and quantum material systems; two-dimensional layered materials (e.g., graphene, CNW, MoS2, MXene, ZnO, topological antiferromagnetic), multifunctional oxide thin films, metal nanoparticles for energy scienc and technology, enzymatic free biochemical sensing, gas sensing, and interface-type neuromorphic engineering. Particularly focus for the last more than a decade is fascinated by alternative and sustainable energy sources (be them energy conversion, storage, harvesting, thermal & light) and how electrode-electrolyte interfacial physical-chemical phenomena is influenced by the electrode design, lattice imperfections, topological defects, dopants, and electrolytes resulting in modified electronic structure, quantum capacitance, and electrochemical behavior in traditional layered and quantum material systems. She implemented various ex situ and in situ techniques to probe physical-chemical processes while developing a framework for nano/microscale electrochemical microscopy for spatial imaging and quantification of heterogeneous electron transfer kinetics among other parameters. Current interests also include nanoscale spectroscopy, electronic materials for neuromorphic hardware development, and topology.
