Graduate Student David received a BS in physics and BSEd in science education from UGA in 2023, and is now a PhD student studying Physics Education Research (PER). His research focuses on the mental health of STEM undergraduate and graduate students, specifically motivation and imposter phenomenon/syndrome. He uses a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to study whether imposter phenomenon is influenced by a person’s social environment such as friend groups, family, classrooms, and more. He's also interested in science communication and making science accessible and understandable to broad audiences. He works on course and lab improvements, focusing on the pedagogy of how physics is taught. He frequently TAs for courses such as PHYS 1251 (introductory physics for engineers), PHYS 1111L/1211L (introductory physics labs), and has taught high school physics both in Athens and internationally. In his free time, David loves to hike, read, and drink too much coffee.
