Physical processes and phenomena in the interstellar medium including radiative processes; excitation, ionization, and dissociation of atoms and molecules; neutral hydrogen and galactic structure; equilibrium conditions in clouds; interactions of dust with gas and radiation; HII regions; molecular clouds; star formation; planetary nebulae; supernova remnants; cosmic rays and the galactic magnetic field.
